Private Tuition

Orangutan

Come and learn with me how to create realistic portraits of animals in the beautiful medium of pastel, specifically pastel pencils. These sessions are suitable for all levels; from total beginners to more experienced artists wanting to build on their skills and explore this exciting and very beginner friendly medium. I will meet you where you're at on your creative journey. Both children and adults are very welcome.

All the materials are provided, including a large bundle of Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils. A list of recommended materials is also provided, along with my top tips. I  provide rubbers, sharpeners and Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper.

I draw out the outline beforehand, so that when you arrive, we can crack on with the fun bit!

Refreshments are provided. There will be tea, coffee and cake.

  • £40 per hour

  • £35 per hour if you have already attended a workshop and bring along the artwork from the workshop.

The length of the session is entirely up to you but I usually recommend 2.5 hours as this kind of work is a lengthy process and needs sufficient time to cover the various stages.

Gift vouchers are available for these one to one sessions and make great gifts.

All sessions take place from my home near Sherborne, Dorset, UK. A relaxed, well lit space in the heart of rural Dorset.

Please do get in touch for any further enquiries and to place a booking.

I look forward to sharing this passion, and the knowledge, tips and techniques i've learnt throughout the 9 years of being a professional pastel artist.

"I've admired Olivia and her incredible artwork for a long time, so when i received the surprise gift of a one to one tutorial with her, i was absolutely over the moon!

From the moment i arrived, Olivia made me feel so welcome (coffee and cake while drawing? Yes please!). She created such a relaxed and encouraging environment that i instantly felt at ease.

What stood out most was how she helped build my confidence - not just in that session, but in my ability as an artist overall. Her gentle guidance, tips, and encouragement made such a difference, and i left feeling truly inspired and excited to keep creating.

Olivia is not only a talented artist but also a genuinely lovely person. I'm so grateful for the experience and would absolutely recommend her tutorials to anyone looking to grow as an artist."

"I've been fortunate enough to take part in a group lesson, which was truly enjoyable. Olivia also offered a one off session with my teenage children to introduce them to oils. She is always incredibly welcoming, friendly, and encouraging. A lovely tutor! "
